I unexpectedly found myself with a whole week to myself, and after receiving so much support from the community, I felt uplifted and ended up taking a last minute whirlwind 4-day trip to Tokyo to make the most of my alone time. It was the best thing I could&#8217;ve done! I would only have four full days in Tokyo (Fri-Mon), and based on the forecast BEFORE DEPARTING, two of those days were high temperatures (45\u2109-50\u2109), and the other two were high temperatures (60\u2109-65\u2109). Lows were in the mid-30s to upper 40s.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It actually turned out to be rainy and cold almost the entire time! The consensus was that I should bring layers and that it felt colder than expected.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the mixed weather and the fact that I\u2019d have two travel days and only four full sightseeing days, I figured I\u2018d bring two outfits for cold weather and two outfits for warm weather, including items that could mix and match for fashion or warmth (function).<\/p>\n<p>Spoiler alert: my packing choices were NOT the best. This jacket is my go-to must-have for cold weather because it\u2019s cute looking but keeps me very warm. I planned to wear this over a sweater and a tee. Having this jacket saved my life!! I wore it the entire time I was there.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+QCxiopWBSDdpA2oEoL2a0Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u200b(Faux) Leather Jacket<\/a> &#8211; For the second half of the trip, which showed milder days in the 60s. I intended to wear them every day and on the flights. They are shockingly comfortable to wear during long periods, but I still longed for a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+EorFfnJsah9fWWW9TNoQvA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SPANX AirEssential Pants<\/a>, which would\u2019ve been perfectly comfy for this long-haul journey. I felt they were a better representative of my style and what I\u2019d see in Tokyo. I was right. Chunky soled boots and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelfashiongirl.com\/best-combat-boots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combat boots<\/a> were everywhere.\u200b<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+EUqwZcusn2scNoMMpwxmFg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u200bIpanema Flip Flops<\/a> &#8211; I didn\u2019t know what to expect in the shared capsule hotel showers, so I bought these just in case. It was a wise choice!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"what-i-packed-for-tokyo\" src=\"https:\/\/travelfashiongirlpostphotos.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com\/2024\/What+I+Pack+for+Tokyo\/what-i-packed-for-tokyo-5.jpeg\" alt=\"what-i-packed-for-tokyo\" width=\"468\" height=\"819\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The one outfit I ended up wearing the entire trip! <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+vDL69tK0X8gVdjyLmdJPjQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Columbia Carson Pass 2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+3jmuVkuMjhHw_gQAGkJc1A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All Saints Ridley Merino Wool Sweater<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelfashiongirl.com\/best-merino-wool-sweaters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">similar<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+9_8Mt0AIbxqQXxG-tcJNEg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mother Jeans<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+KLyLBRZOQD5BIq-AIvON0Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White Sneakers<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Worked_and_What_Didnt\"><\/span>What Worked and What Didn\u2019t<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u200b<\/p>\n<p>As it turned out, the weather never got warm enough for the Cherry Blossoms to bloom during my visit, which also meant that some of my capsule items were not worn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I didn\u2019t need to pack for mixed weather\u2014I just needed to pack for cold weather.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because of this, I didn\u2019t wear the leather jacket, Chambray button-down, faux leather tee, or H&amp;M polka dot dress, which would&#8217;ve been SO cute to wear in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>I also didn\u2019t wear my pajamas (shorts and tee) because the hotel I stayed at, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livelyhotels.com\/en\/themillennialsshibuya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Millennials Capsule Hotel<\/a>, rented nice, warm pajamas for just $3.<\/p>\n<p>While my Mother jeans are super soft, I wish I would\u2019ve had my favorite Anthropologie Wide-Leg Pants instead because they&#8217;re even more comfortable, stylish, and a better color for the destination and season.<\/p>\n<p>Despite being advised that a winter jacket wasn\u2019t necessary, I opted to bring my trusty <a href=\"https:\/\/rstyle.me\/+vDL69tK0X8gVdjyLmdJPjQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Columbia Carson Pass 2<\/a> instead of a recommended <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelfashiongirl.com\/best-packable-down-jacket\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">packable down jacket<\/a>. It\u2019s important to make packing decisions based on your own weather tolerance.<\/p>\n<p>Considering my prior experience traveling to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelfashiongirl.com\/what-to-wear-in-paris-in-winter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paris in the winter<\/a> and standing hours in the cold rain, I knew my winter jacket wouldn\u2019t let me down in 30\u2109-40\u2109 degree temperatures. It was the best decision I could\u2019ve made.<\/p>\n<p>The color ended up being perfect, too.
